Weird censorship 11.28.2011

We've all seen those censored pictures before; A celebrity walks around with half her chest exposed and where the nipple is supposed to be, they've photoshopped a little star. Never mind that you can see every part of her breast clear as day. Being able to trace every curved line with your eyes in detail, but no, that exposed areola, that is too taboo to show.

Everybody knows what a human nipple looks like by looking down, most of the population are even familiar with what a female nipple looks like, why is it taboo? A nipple is one of the most normal thing out there, yet it's taboo. Doesn't this constant scandal talk about breasts keep it from being something normal? I seriously wonder if it wouldn't be better to just stop putting stars or circles on nipples every time somebody compromises themselves.

Censoring parts of a photograph is supposed to keep a person from knowing what's there. But we're talking about a frigging nipple here, not the decapitation and slaughtering of a litter of kittens! Everybody knows what a nipple and a breast look like!

Deliberately hiding parts of a female body which would normally be plainly visible (on a photograph!), is in fact asking the viewing party to actively -imagine- whats underneath that blocked bit. Why go through all that trouble? The main purpose is to not have a person have an image of something on his retina, do you think it's better then for a person to have several imaginings of said image purely in his brain?!

Showing a big star/circle/block instead of a nipple on a breast draws attention to it and someone starts thinking about what it looks like. It makes a person ponder about that breast. Actually seeing the entire apparatus in full glory wouldn't illicit the same kind of conscious thought about it at all, I rekon..
